Diary entry 50

Dear diary,

Its been a busy week. Had to drag myself to Jhelum for the “Nikkah” ceremony of my cousins on Sunday. Then Monday went by (in rest). Tuesday came and my little sister had to go to McDonalds for “Naat competition.” On my mother’s request, the function started with my recitation. The Judge for the competition had a stern face and my little sister was afraid she wont win. As the competition came closer to its end, Mum went to the organizers again. Me and my little sister performed an English  Nasheed by Sami Yousaf.

Time for the announcement of winners and the first position goes to ME and my little sister!

(And I wasnt even a part of competition).

Mum was so excited, so was the teacher from my ex-school. So by the end of evening, we took two prizes home 😉

Now mum wants me to teach her some more stuff for all the competitions to come, before I head back Hostel.

Dear diary,I’m sorry I wasn’t able to post more often this week. Thanks to dear WAPDA for taking light for 5 hours in one stretch 🙂

Gotta run!

Diary entry 49

Dear diary,I’m the “girl on move” today with a motion sickness. But I’m glad, going home finally!
Was too weary and tired to write an account of my management paper so here it is today. The objective part was too easy and went great but the subjective part almost scared me to death. First read of the questions and I felt as If I was so under-prepared.Anyway, I started with Allah’s name and words started to pour down on the answer sheet. By the time I was done with two Questions, I still had half of the allotted time left. So,I slowed my speed a little and still was done with it and half an hour left. I didn’t bother to recheck it(I never do!) and before I knew,I was out of the exam room, with a new gift of freedom on my hands. So here I am, with my father and brother, on the way to home and motion sick, yet again. But I’d gladly be motion-sick a million times if it means it ends at home!
(I’m not being rational or even serious here 😉 )

I’ll be on the road, once again, this Sunday. My cousin is getting married. She wanted me to stay but I’d rather stay at my own place.

Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home!

Diary entry 47

Dear diary,
Everyone seems either hurt or angry with me today for I dunno what reasons. Its as if the are blaming for not stopping world wars from happening or for letting people suffer in various parts of the world.Guys, if it makes you feel better, I’m really sorry for not being there to stop America from bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki,to stop “Pisa Tower” from leaning on one side and I’m sorry I burst your expectation bubble. Giving me hard time wont change anything. I wont suddenly become a super being and save the world.

So, for heaven’s sake!gimme a break here!

Just stop acting as if I’m the reason for your mood swings. Stop killing me!

Dear diary,
Today’s been one helluva day. My little brother came to Islamabad on school trip. I was planning to meet him at the place where they planned to stop for lunch. So I took my roommate with me and we were in “Blue Area”,Islamabad around 03:50 pm. Just when the trip people were about to depart from “Daman E Koh“, a student went missing. There wasn’t any answer on from his cell.Search parties were made and sent all over the area. For more than 3 hours there was no sign of him. Everyone was so stressed out, female teachers crying, children afraid….well me and my roommate, praying all the while doing some “window shopping.”Around 06:30 pm “Rangers team” was summoned and they tried once more. The school principal ordered the in charge to start the journey back home with 168 of 169 students. Lucky for everyone, just as they were about to depart, the child himself called in.What happened was, while climbing the mountain trail, he was left a little behind and slipped, fell off the marked trail and hit his head, remained unconscious for two hours. When he gained conscious,he started to climb the trial, thinking that his friends were still there. Finding no one there,he contacted them and was found and taken to their transport. So,after almost 5 hours of roaming around “Blue Area”, eating “Savour food” and window shopping, my brother came to the place. Met him there, gave him his and my little sister’s b’day gifts, talked to his in charge teachers and finally said my goodbye.
Finally I’m back,tired but happy 🙂
He’s on his way and so would I this Wednesday or Thursday.

(In Sha Allah!)

Diary entry 45

Dear diary,
Just had to listen to another big fight between my roommates. All the shouting has my head pounding now. Nobody was ready to calm down. The Pakistani roommate cries while the Kenyan roommate shouts. And I sit between them with my head throbbing and throat hurting after trying to make them see sense, which by the way, always goes down the drain!

Even the girls from the neighbouring rooms came to resolve the matter but had to go back with nothing but failure.

What works with them is that I let them speak their hearts out before saying anything. This helps a lot. When the extreme fire consumes the firewood, I’m there to tend to the burns. This is my job-yeah,I have the nursing duty. I tend to the scars in their minds.

(Well,no,I’m not a Saint. So what I basically do is,give them both a shut up call)
The sea is most peaceful after the storm. I love this silence(awkward though it is,but so precious all the same). Theres nothing more beauteous than the sunshine after a heavy downpour!

What just happened to me?
Where did all that come from?

Well, I guess this is all I want to write today. Back to “The Lucky One”

Diary entry 44

Dear diary,

I’ve been avoiding studies for past 4 days now.Now and then,I’ll grab my book, open it in my lap and still won’t study. I’m all messed up.One more day to go before my exam.Which means I will waste one more day unwillingly.

Argh!Why don’t I sit and study???!!!

My God!Now even my mind is blank!

a light shower might help.

See ya!

P.S:Where do brains go,when you need them the most???!!!

let go please……!

You said you’ll come back

And those words I believed

You said we’ll be together again

And that’s what I dreamed

You left me with just a good-bye

To live with your memories or die

Did you mean everything you spoke?

Or were you merely good at lies?

I put my life on hold for you

I let my heart be carried away

You shook my world, stole my heart

I’ve shed enough tears, no more left to cry

You gave me a shoulder to lean on

Then took my soul, sucked my blood dry

O captor of my heart,

O keeper of the keys

Let me go, please set me free!!!

Diary entry 43

Dear diary,

I’m writing with a frustrated heart today. Last night my roomies had a bad argument. Whenever they do that, I find myself, reluctant, but still in the middle of the storm. Why don’t they leave me alone!

I’m sleep deprived today and agitated. I want to go some place where no one can find me. A place, where I find peace.

My roommate has this deadly disease. She’s prone to excessive complaining and taunting. I’m sure, way deep inside, she has a great heart. I’ve seen her affection and care. When I’m physically down, she takes care of me.  But when I’m back to normal, she taunts me nonstop. I so much want to tell her to leave me alone then and that I’m sorry that I am not the saint she wants me to be. I want to say that I hope that one day I’m as caring as she is but I certainly don’t want to practice being caring here. I don’t want to change for her or anyone-according to anyone’s wishes (I’m not especially proud of some thoughts that keep crossing my mind)

What kills me inside is that I can’t say any of these things without hurting her. And I don’t wanna hurt her.  Because if I do, the guilt won’t leave me alone. This leaves me one choice only: to shut up and endure!

But who knows one of these days I snap and say all these things to her.

*evil grin*

For now, my lips are sealed.

Anyway, I have a building headache. I should try to catch some sleep

Learn From The Best

When you are hurt by people who share the same blood as you, then just remember Yusuf (Alaihi Salaam), who was betrayed by his own brothers.

If you find your parents opposing you, remember Ibrahim (Alaihi Salaam), whose father led him to the fire.

If you are stuck with a problem where there’s no way out, remember Yunus (Alaihi Salaam), stuck in the belly of a whale.gif

If you are ill & your body cries with pain, remember Ayoob (Alaihi Salaam) who was more ill than you.

When someone slanders you, remember Ai’sha (RadiAllah anha) who was slandered throughout the city.

When you’re lonely, recall Adam (Alaihi Salaam) who was created alone.

When you can’t see any logic around you, think of Nuh (Alaihi Salaam) who built an ark without questioning.

Allah (Sub’hana wa ta’ala) put these Prophets to trial, so that later generations may learn a lesson of patience & perseverance.

May Allah give us right perspective & understanding… Ameen
